Sign up Now for the WORK[etc] Android CRM App Beta

We've said before that the Android version of the WORK[etc] mobile CRM app was hot on the heels of the iPhone app—and we weren't kidding! As the iPhone app finally breaks out into the wild, we're opening signups for the Android app's beta testing phase. Join Insiders now and be a beta tester!

You read that title right, Android users—the Android version of WORK[etc]‘s CRM app is now finally ready to be put through its paces during the beta testing phase. The beta test will be exclusive to members of WORK[etc] Insiders, so if you aren’t one yet, you should join now by clicking here. Once you’re in, just look for this challenge banner:

Complete this challenge on Insiders to become a WORK[etc] Android CRM app beta tester.

We’ll be rolling out the Android app’s first beta build sometime during the week of March 2. As with the iOS beta, testers are fully encouraged to report every bug and issue that they come across. Plus, we’re publishing a few exclusive challenges and a shiny new badge for Android beta testers on Insiders.

New Features and Improvements

The app’s new and improved Dashboard gives you a quick view of what you’re working on and what you have scheduled. Aside from the “Upcoming Events” and “My Recent Activity” lists, we’ve also added a “New and Updated” list to help you stay on top of every contact, support case, or project. Also, up top, you’ll see familiar icons that let you create new items in WORK[etc] with a simple tap.

You can also create anything from new leads to support tickets from virtually anywhere in the app via the Navigation Drawer. Just swipe from left to right to open the left menu and tap on the “+” buttons beside the module names. The Dashboard and Settings modules are also accessible through the Navigation Drawer.

You’ll also notice in the image below that there’s a Feedback button in the Navigation Drawer; this is only available on the beta build so testers can send bug reports and issues without having to close the app.

The Contacts module has been optimized to allow for faster searching. You can further refine and filter search results using more advanced filtering options. These options are accessible by swiping from the right to the left when searching.

Filtering isn’t limited to contacts; you can filter results on pretty much on any module in the app.

The activity history feature has been overhauled. You can now keep track of any contact’s activity, including correspondence.

Speaking of correspondence, the Android app also has the streamlined Discussions module that we built for the iPhone app so you can keep discussions going even when you’re out of the office.

The new project module includes both the Activity Stream View and Nest Tree View. Custom fields that allow users to add and collect more niche and industry-specific information to objects in WORK[etc] are also included in the beta build.

You can even snap a picture and attach it to a project—very useful for when inspiration strikes while you’re out in the field or when you have to charge a receipt against an expense. You can also upload any image you have saved on your phone.

You can also launch a timesheet from practically any screen. The feature is further enhanced with the new “Start/Stop” timer. Timers have been integrated with Android notifications, so any ongoing timers will be shown in the notification area. In the iPhone app, this is only available to those running iOS 8.1, but Android users running Jellybean and higher can all take advantage of the timers in the notification area.

Remember, the beta is open only to members of WORK[etc] Insiders. If you haven’t done so already, join Insiders by clicking here.

I’ve applied to join the beta group, hopefully I can get it. I’m looking forward to the update and based on just looks alone, it’ll be a BIG step in the right direction. But I do have a question, will there be the ability to view knowledge base entries from the app? I’m not sure if it comes under any of the sections mentioned, but I didn’t think so…

It’s pretty awesome – been using it for a couple of weeks on and off now and MUCH better than what we had before (learnt the lesson on outsourcing there). KB not included as yet, but we can certainly look at that for a future update. Now we have our own super-awesome Android Dev we’ll be able to push out more updates, more often!

I’ve just registered for beta group access also.

My main usages will be timesheet recording (I often forget to fill my sheets in and it would be nice to be able to do these on the go.

I’m also looking forward to being able to see my To-dos and discussions if these will be easily available then I will be using the App a lot.

I think design-wise it’s a really uncluttered clean display and can’t wait to try the beta.

I’m really looking forward to putting this through its paces if I get an opportunity.
The main things I will use while mobile are updating tasks and projects, and of course my time sheets.
Looking at the above I’m not sure about the ability to have 2 timers running at once, I would have assumed that when you started a new one the other one that was running would pause.
I’m looking forward to the new UI it seems a lot more intuitive (at least in the screen shots) than the existing one.

I’ve been using this in its “Alpha” state for a few weeks now on and off, and I’m VERY impressed. OK, so you’d probably expect me to say that, but I’m not saying that to impress the boss, flatter our utterly-awesome Android Developer, or to persuade you to come back to WORK[etc] and try it. I say it because I can now manage my own business remotely using the App quickly and efficiently, AND cos I can reply to Support Tickets sent to WORK[etc] whilst on the train. So, if you get emails from me that are full of fat-fingered typos that’s probably why 😉

Looking good! Glad to see you guys & gals making progress on the Android application. From the article it seems like it is functionally the same as the iOS application. I had the privilege to test the iOS application, and was pleased with the updates, features, etc.

Is the planned release schedule for the apps & the new web GUI coming soon? It would be nice to put something on the calendar, so we may have the opportunity to prep users.

Thanks!

Looks great. We are mostly an iOS shop but do have a couple androids floating around so this will be very helpful. It’s encouraging to us as a customer to see the level of effort you consistently put into enhancing this product suite.

I signed up for the beta and was very excited to test the extra features from the previous app. Now I feel like i can truly do work in worketc from my mobile device. I am sure there are only a few bugs and they will be resolved quickly cause thats how worketc does it!

I LOVE being able to enter my time for a client’s project with my Android. I lose a lot of billable time because I don’t work from my desk. When I am in court or at a client’s site, I guarantee that I will forget to log my time. An app would solve that problem. So, I am super excited about the timer and the timesheet.

One feature that is missing from the app is the ability to send an email through the WETC system to clients. The WETC system serves as an organized log of client communication. But this missing feature is not a deal breaker.

Other than that, this app looks perfect.

I just installed the beta app. I created a note on a project and added a time sheet for work this morning. It only took me 10 minutes to do it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. The only thing missing from this app is the whipped cream on top so I can eat it for dessert. Good job, WORK[etc] team. I know that you worked hard on this app and it shows.

It’s a hugeee improvement! I just couldn’t wait for this version. It look very nice. But, sometimes I think that Work[etc] needs some light version :). It’s a really great tool, there is no doubt. I just feel sometimes that there is too much options 🙂 That isn’t bad thing just my opinion. I didn’t found options for mark task done. Also, in future some calendar widget will be nice option.

I’ve been using G Suite so much lately that I feel like it could only be a matter of time before I switch over, at least for a work device. Glad to see your pushing to both platforms. I’ve noticed there is often time the whole, yeah we will get to releasing an Android version. Looks like you very much focused on making sure a big majority of your user base is covered. Nice parity with the iOS app as well.

It wasn’t clear how to sign up for the Beta, but I was excited to see these production screens. I had high expectations for the new features and could tell that it would be a vast improvement from the old mobile app. I’ve already downloaded the App now that it’s released and the expectations were definitely met.
